Complete Review of Audio To Go
Formed in April of 2003, Audio To Go offers a selection of over 23,000 audio book titles. Audio To Go is a rental service site, and offers 5 plans to choose from. The company branched off from Talking World Books and got into the audio book rental market after seeing a need for audio book rentals online.
Site Functionality
After creating an account at Audio To Go, you'll choose your first 25 selections that you wish to rent. After you choose your selections, you'll then receive them 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 at a time (depending on your plan). After you have listened to your selections, you will return them (free shipping) and have the next rentals in your queue sent to you. You then continue adding books to your queue and return them whenever you get finished with them.
Available Plans
There are five rental plans available at Audio To Go:
Basic: This plan includes 1 audio book rental at a time and unlimited monthly rentals for $14.99 per month (CD only) or $19.99 per month (for CD and cassette).
Bronze: Includes 2 audio books at at time and unlimited monthly rentals. The cost is $19.99 per month for CD only, or $24.99 per month for CD and cassette.
Silver: Includes 3 audio books out at a time with no limit to the number of audio books you can have out per month. CD only rental plans are $29.99 per month, while CD and cassette rental plans are $34.99 per month.
Gold: With the Gold plan, you can have four complete audio books out at a time and unlimited monthly rentals. The CD only option costs $39.99 per month while the CD and cassette rental option is $44.99 per month.
Platinum: The Platinum plan will allow you to have 5 audio books out per month and unlimited monthly rentals. Pricing for the CD only rental option is $49.99 per month, while renting on both CD and cassette will cost you $54.99 per month.
All plans have a yearly pre-pay option, which will save you a bit of cash. If you're planning on sticking with the service for some time, this would be a good option to consider.
Additional Features
There currently isn't a gift subscription option available at this site. There is a link to buy audio books, but the site says that this feature is 'coming soon.' This would be a strong feature for this site, and it would be one of the few combination rental/purchase audio book sites on the web. However, there is no estimated arrival time for the option to purchase new and used audio books.
